This morning was nice and low-key. Since we don't have church until 1 pm, we get to lounge around a bit beforehand. Which is nice.
No, the excitement didn't start until after church. Here in mountainous southern California, most everything is built on a hill. So is the church. We have a patio area with a short wall that the kids like to jump off of. It's about 3 feet off the ground, with grass below. Usually this is no big deal. Today, it kind of was.
I was talking with some friends (because that's what you do after church, right?) when I heard my name. Another friend said that Levi had fallen off the wall. Apparently, he stepped off, unprepared to jump, and hit the back of his thigh on the brick wall. He'll have a nasty bruise there for a while, and scraped it up pretty good. He'll be fine.
Then, just after the boys went to bed at 8:30, we had a mild earthquake. It wasn't much, really, but it scared the boys pretty well. We talked about what an earthquake is and why it happens. I finished off with the idea that it's like the earth getting tickled, and then they felt better. They eventually went to sleep with no problem. Whew. I think May might just be trying to compete with April for Crazy Month of the Year. I hope May loses.
