Another exciting day at our house!

This morning was nice and low-key. Since we don't have church until 1 pm, we get to lounge around a bit beforehand. Which is nice.

No, the excitement didn't start until after church. Here in mountainous southern California, most everything is built on a hill. So is the church. We have a patio area with a short wall that the kids like to jump off of. It's about 3 feet off the ground, with grass below. Usually this is no big deal. Today, it kind of was.

I was talking with some friends (because that's what you do after church, right?) when I heard my name. Another friend said that Levi had fallen off the wall. Apparently, he stepped off, unprepared to jump, and hit the back of his thigh on the brick wall. He'll have a nasty bruise there for a while, and scraped it up pretty good. He'll be fine.

Then, just after the boys went to bed at 8:30, we had a mild earthquake. It wasn't much, really, but it scared the boys pretty well. We talked about what an earthquake is and why it happens. I finished off with the idea that it's like the earth getting tickled, and then they felt better. They eventually went to sleep with no problem. Whew. I think May might just be trying to compete with April for Crazy Month of the Year. I hope May loses.

  1. I'm beginning to think we need to wrap all the kids in bubble wrap! Alek was riding his bike yesterday when he ran into a tree. He's fine...just some bumps and bruises...including a scrape right across his face. *sigh*

  2. We'll buy it in bulk and share! And, was he wearing a helmet? (I figured I had to ask, since the pediatrician was all over you about it.) hehe. Glad he's fine.

  3. I heard about your earthquake all the way out here on the east coast! I like the "earth getting tickled" idea. :)

  4. I totally thought you were going to say he hit his HEAD when he fell off the wall. So glad it wasn't his head!

  5. What a great way to describe an earthquake! Hope Levi's recovers quickly. :)

  6. HA! Nope. Even if I had told him to wear it, and threatened him within an inch of his life, he would have taken it off the second I turned my back.
Does Sam's Club sell bubble wrap? :)

  7. Tami, yes, Sam's Club sells bubble wrap. My sister and I spent the past week in Columbia and she bought a huge roll of bubble wrap at Wal-Mart. I would love to have had some for Bethany and her siblings when they were young. :) I agree with Bethany that April and May have been difficult. I would have wrapped her younger sister, Hallie and her car in bubble wrap if I could have before her car accident. Thank goodness insurance paid most of the over $4,000 bill for her car. We are grateful that no one was hurt, just the two vehicles.

Levi, lets not try to be superman without a cap. I hope your leg heals quickly.

  8. Maybe irrelevant to this post, but like your other blog about helping each other stay true to your goals. Looks like the first one is walking. Same here, as well as reading scriptures.
