A simple post in honor of Independence Day
One of our old friends from college is currently serving in Afghanistan. He wrote a post for their blog, and I thought it was perfect. So I am sharing his post with you. Their family is currently in Alaska, far from family in Missouri. The twins, Gavin and Asher, are just a few months younger than A.J. and Corbin is a little older than Levi. Megan and I started college together, and Jared and Aaron served their missions at the same time, though to very different corners of the world. Please read and enjoy, and think of him and his family when you watch or light fireworks tomorrow.

Bethany,
ReplyDeleteThank you for this beautiful story by Jared Speaks. Dad and I remember him and his family when we lived in Centralia. Jared's comments remind me of when Jon went into the Army, and of the 1960's when I saw so many friends go to Vietnam. How fortunate our country is to have such fine people like Jared serve our country honorably. We will keep him and his family in our prayers.
Freedom, scrafice, service, brotherly love, the true meaning of Independence Day.
Love,
Mom and Dad
